Midnight Sun Wedding

Fancy a wedding at dusk? Let this article transport you to a totally unique ‘Midnight Sun’ wedding inspiration shoot. I hope you find some creative ideas to make your wedding unique and memorable.

I. Preparing for the ‘Midnight Sun’ wedding.

Organising a romantic wedding that takes place at night can seem daunting at first, but with careful planning it can be an incredibly memorable experience. One of the first things to consider is the lighting. You can use subdued light to create a romantic atmosphere, or spotlights (candles, bright lights, etc.) to highlight the key elements of your decor.

Then you can think about the location. Weddings that take place at night can be organised in a wide range of places, such as a beach, a park, a courtyard or a garden. You can also opt for a more traditional venue, such as a building or a reception hall.

II. Creating a romantic and mysterious atmosphere.

It was in the moonlight, in the heart of a romantic and wild forest, that we created the ceremony that would unite this couple for eternity. The forest is a place that naturally exudes an intimate and magical atmosphere, even during the day, as we saw here, for example.

The location, the music, the lighting, the decorations and the entertainment immersed the guests in a fantastic atmosphere with a half-light worthy of the ‘Twilight’ series.

An atmosphere is an immersive dive, so we thought about every detail in terms of the sensory experience it brings: candles (lots and lots of candles), a red velvet sofa, autumn flowers, candlesticks, an aisle of red roses and candles, a wooden archway... From the text of the invitation, with its distinctive texture and warm colours, the guests were amazed and intrigued.

III. The warmth of Love and Passion.

For a ‘Midnight Sun’ wedding, one element is omnipresent and indispensable throughout the ceremony: fire. Often associated with the colour red, fire is synonymous with love and purification, but also with passion and rebirth. These symbols are strong and carnal. This element is therefore present in various forms throughout the ceremony:

  • The countless candles and their small flames
  • The ‘burning your fears’ ritual, which involves lighting a fire
  • the giant circle of flames around the bride and groom during the exchange of rings and vows
  • And the fire-eaters and their performance, which brings the ceremony to a close.

This staging makes the ceremony unique, emotionally powerful and unforgettable.

IV. The rituals

A ceremony is above all about your union and your commitment, it has to reflect you and convey your personality and your values. For this wedding, we created three tailor-made rituals based on the bride and groom's story:

  • The Candle Ritual: with 4 candles symbolising the past, the present, the future and infinity.
  • The ‘Burning your Fears’ Ritual, in which the bride and groom throw letters they have written beforehand into the fire.
  • The Crowns Ritual: to highlight what the bride and groom are committing to.
